Murud-Janjira fort: For all those with a love of Indian history, especially Maharashtra's history, a visit to the well-known Murud-Janjira fort is a must. Situated right in the middle of the Arabian sea, you have to take a boat ride to reach there. Considered as one of the strongest sea forts in India, this fort is a feast for the eyes owing to its intricate Mughal architecture and carvings. You can also sight a few ancient war weapons and cannons, which make for quite a historical afternoon!
Kolaba fort: Built by Maratha warrior Shivaji Maharaj, Kolaba is another sea fort that defines majesty and strength. Built in 1680, the fort has a long-standing history of around 300 years. Flaunting carvings of elephants, peacocks and tigers, Kolaba fort is a must-visit for history enthusiasts. You will also find many little temples in the fort's complex, dedicated to deities like Lord Ganesh and the fort-deity Kanifnath.
Alibaug beach: Come to Alibaug and the first thing you will want to do is visit the beach! Alibaug beach is a nice, long stretch of sand and is known for its black sand deposits. While there are other beaches in Alibaug prettier and cleaner than this one, it still is a nice place to take an evening stroll at.
Nagaon beach: When it comes to beautiful beaches, then Nagaon beach will not disappoint you. One of the prominent beaches of Alibaug, Nagaon beach is situated 7 km on the scenic Alibaug-Revdanda route. Surrounded by greenery and flaunting sparkling sea-water, this beach is one of the most-visited in the region. It is also popular for water-sports like kayaking and boat rides.
Kihim beach: Located to the north of Alibaug, Kihim beach is enveloped by coconut trees, wild flowers and fluttering butterflies. If you are a nature-lover, then this beach will surely delight you. You may also be lucky enough to spot some species of migratory birds making this beach a natural haven. Kolaba fort situated nearby can also be spotted from this beach.
Kanakeshwar Devasthan temple: The Kanakeshwar Devasthan temple is a temple dedicated to Lord Shiva. This temple is located on a 900 ft high hill and if you wish to visit this temple, you will have to climb around 5000 steps! There are a few other temples in the vicinity, as well, so if you are spiritually inclined, visiting this beautiful temple is a must. While there, you can also explore Pushkarna Kund which is located behind the temple.
